Breaking Global Poverty

Hoping to help the world’s poorest people break out of a persistent cycle of poverty by growing and marketing high-value crops, UC Davis is taking the lead on a new $15 million global Horticulture Collaborative Research Program, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development.

The new program, aimed at demonstrating how horticulture can help reduce hunger and malnutrition, will select and support U.S. and international partners for research, training, curriculum development and outreach activities in the neediest countries, most located in sub-Saharan Africa, southern Asia and Latin America.
