Extending the Reach of Medical Care

Physicians are in short supply in many rural communities. The UC Davis Center for Health and Technology helps fill that need by enabling patients from throughout California to connect with clinical and specialty medical services without traveling long distances. The UC Davis Health System is also one of the few places in the nation training and encouraging physicians to practice medicine and become community leaders in these areas through the Rural-PRIME program.

A new four-story, $36 million California Telehealth Resource Center on the Sacramento campus will enhance the capabilities of UC Davis’ 18-year-old telehealth program in using high-speed telecommunications for remote medical consultations, critical care and emergency services, as well as health-care training.
